UAE Donates 26 Bajaj Ambulances |
|
Some 26 special emergency Bajaj
ambulances have been donated by the government of the United Arab
Emirates (UAE) to the Ministry of Health (MoH), worth 2,000 dollars,
on Monday, December 26, 2011. There is a plan to receive 310
emergency automobiles out of 800, which have already been purchased,
and 50 have already been distributed, according to Abraham Endeshaw
(PhD), the ministry’s medical director.

North Shoa Set to Harvest 14m Ql |
|
Over 14 million quintals is expected
to be harvested from an area of 497,175ht in North Shoa Zone, Amhara
Regional State, according to the zone’s agriculture department. This
amount is expected to be harvested from an area covered by legumes,
cereals, and oilseeds on over 362,000ht of land, during this
Ethiopian year, according to Simegn Haile, department crop
development and protection expert.

Kembata Tembaro Set to Harvest One
Million Quintals of Ginger |
|
Ginger amounting to one million
quintals is to be harvested from four ginger-producing zones on
7,400ht of land in Kembata Tembaro Zone, Southern Regional State,
exceeding by 1,000ql that of the same period last year, according to
the zone’s agricultural and development bureau. The price of a
quintal of ginger has escalated to 600 Br, but more than 11,000
farmers are focusing on producing ginger, according to Arega Eshete,
agricultural extension supervision head.

|
Some 405 condominium houses
constructed at a cost of over 60 million Br in Sodo Town, Southern
Regional State, were transferred to beneficiaries, while creating

town’s housing development project office manager.

Tigray Pours 23.8m Br into
Renaissance Dam Coffers |
|
Some 23.8 million Br has been
collected for the construction of the Renaissance Dam from different
zones in Tigray Regional State, according to the construction
steering committee of the dam. The money was collected from
government officials, businesses, nongovernmental organisations
(NGO) employees, and farmers. There is a plan to collect over 392
million Br in the coming three years, according to Yonas Kidane,
chair of the committee.

N. Gondar Families to Benefit from
130m-Br Safety Net Plan |
|
Over 130 million Br has been
allocated to benefit over 117,000 households in implementing a
safety net programme in North Gondar Zone, Amhara Regional State, in
the current Ethiopian fiscal year, according to the zone’s disaster
prevention & Food Security Office. There is a plan to provide over
50 million Br in loans to family heads to enable them to engage in
activities like animal fattening, environmental protection,
small-scale irrigation, and small businesses, according to Adane
Alemseged, office head.

|
Investment projects, like service

SC to Build Recreation Centre at

|
True Way Capital Services SC is to
build a park and a family recreation centre on a 4,400km plot of
land around CMC area, at a cost of 96.5 million Br, according to the
company. Some 50 million Br has been collected from the sale of
shares. The company envisions collecting 38pc profit, annually, from
the centre, according to Bekele Eshete, general director of the
board.
