Harar, Credit Institute Gives over 6m Br Loans

 

The Harar Credit Saving Institution said that it has provided more than 6.7 million Br in loan over the last six months. Institution Manager Feleke Bogale said that the institution provided the loan service to 47 associations and individuals. The institution has set plans to collect over 2.9 million Br of the loan in the stated time, and has achieved 91pc of the set target, he added.  The manager further said that the institution has also saved over one million Birr, and has made preparations to provide over 2.9 million Br loans until the end of the current budget year.

Tigray Farmers Get 25.6m Br from Irrigation Schemes

 

Local farmers in Kafta-Humera district of the Western Tigray Regional Zone engaged in irrigation development activities secured more than 25.6 million Br during the first half of the current Ethiopian fiscal year, the district and Agricultural Rural Development Office of Humera said. An expert with the office, Dagnew Dessalegne, said that 825 farmers were developing 540hct through irrigation and were able to reap agriculture output twice a year. The farmers were able to reap 69,000qtls of horticulture products. According to the expert, the office envisages developing 1,800hct through irrigation during the current dry season. More than 700 farmers had obtained 16.3 million Br income from the sale of 48,200qtls of output from irrigation schemes last year.

Amhara, Farmer's Union Nets 29.7m Br Profit

 

 

The Gozam Farmers Cooperatives' union in East Gojjam Zone of Amhara Regional State has made over 29.7 million Br profit from its activities last year. The union has already distributed over 6.4 million Br profit among its members, union manager, Seleshi Workeneh, said. He added that the union had supplied over 410,000 qtls of fertilizers and select seed and 31,700 qtls of crops.

Investors Plough 160m Br Capital in SNNPRS

 

 

A total of 13 investors with a combined capital of over 160 million Br have been engaged in various investment activities in South Omo Zone of SNNPRS, Hawassa Zonal Trade and Industry Department said. Investment process coordinator, Belachew Almairew, said that the investors have been engaged in agriculture, agro industry, fish and ostrich rearing, as well as other sectors. The investment projects have created jobs for over 9,000, People he said.

Ben. Gumuz, Saudi Investor Launches 15m Br  Agriculture Project

 

             

A Saudi investor has recently launched agricultural investment in Benihangul Gumuz with a registered capital of 15 million Br. The project will cultivate oilseeds and grain, including sesame, rice and pepper. Assosa Woreda administration said they will support investment activities that play a great role in support of national development efforts.

 Amhara, State Allocates 830m Br for Agricultural Inputs, Grain


A sum of 830 million Br has been allocated for the purchase of agriculture inputs and grain, the Amhara Regional State Agriculture and Rural Development Bureau announced. The money is being provided to farmers' cooperatives who supply the inputs and grain among farmers, the bureau said. The money is being given to the cooperatives in the form of loans, and 700 million Br will be spent on the purchase of agriculture inputs to be distributed among farmers during the upcoming crop season. The balance will be spent on the purchase of food grain aimed at stabilizing the market.

World Vision Ethiopia Undertakes 24 m Br Oromia Dev't Programme

 

World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is undertaking a development programme worth 24 million Br in Digelutijo Woreda, Aris Zone of Oromia Regional State. The organization has been undertaking seven development projects in the district since 2007, programme Manager, Eshetu Hailu, said. According to the manager, a water supply project designed for 10,000 households has already gone operational, while the construction of the three health posts and 11 water points are well in progress.  The overall objective of the programme, which is being funded by Korean donors, is aimed at benefiting over 50,000 people in the woreda, he said.

Afar, State to Construct Low-Cost Houses


Over 570 low-cost houses will be built in Semera town of the Afar Regional State at a cost of 18 million Br in the next three years, the state administration of Semera said. The construction project is expected to create jobs for over 3,000 people, and the government is committed to installing the necessary infrastructure across the state, and thereby enhance the overall development of the state.
