Editors,
I would like to point out a couple of things in
relation to your news story headlined, “The
Inconvenient Truth” [Volume 9 Number 423, June 8,
2008]. Why does it matter so much whether the number
of children affected by the drought is 126,000 or
75,000? Shouldn’t our concern be why a single child
goes hungry? |

November 2002, the Prime Minister chastised the West for not
being responsive to the ensuing famine unless there were
pictures on TV of skeletal figures. Six years down the line,
his wish is granted, and we are witnessing the media having
a field day on the current drought in Ethiopia. |

element of original reporting: Kudos to your
