Draft Driving License Law to Impose Stiffer Penalties

A new Driving License Bill that imposes stiff penalties on drivers has been accepted by members of the Federal Parliament when Shiferaw Jarso, representative of the Government at Parliament, presented it on June 5, 2008. Three CBE Staff Guilty of Fraud

The Federal High Court on April 18, 2008, has passed a verdict on Simu Wube, an employee of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), in the Foreign Remittance section of the International Banking Department, and his two accomplices - Eyosiyas Tesfamariyam and Yidnekachew Gebremariam. Seyee Abraha, former defence minister, told the Amharic weekly, Awramba Times, on how he felt about the recently celebrated 17th Year Anniversary of the collapse of the military government on May 28, 1991. He, together with Tewolde W. Mariam and Tamrat Layne, had all been members of the rebels' Military Command, and were at the Central Command established in a cave in Temben, Tigray Regional State, before heading, one after another, for Addis Abeba two days after the fall of the capital to the EPRDF forces.
