I have been watching current price developments on
the mercantile exchanges from Chicago to Kuala
Lampur; I predict that inflation will get worse,
whether in Ethiopia or elsewhere. A lot of the
private hedge fund money is pumped into commodities
as the stock market is slumping. |

You described very well in your editorial a few
weeks ago headlined, “Parliamentary Soap
Opera, Ideological Chaos” [Volume 8, Number
412, March 23, 2008] how the opposition has lost
sight of ideologies they represent. There is no
better evidence of this than the debate in
Parliament during the same week, which shows how the
opposition is flimsy in position when it comes to
economic issues.

“Coptic” Term Derogatory |

Editors,
This is in response to your recent article headline,
“Half-way to Easter” [Volume 8 Number 413 March 30,
2008].
The columnist, Girma Feyissa, made an assertion that
the Ethiopian Tewahedo Church is “Coptic”. Copts are
Egyptian Christians, who have the same doctrine as
the Orthodox Christians in Ethiopia. But the latter
are not Coptic.
