After the "Ethiopia Democracy and Accountability Act
of 2007" unanimously passed through the US House of
Representatives into the Senate, a slew of opinions
have been covering op-ed pages internationally and
domestically. Teferi Melesse, acting director
general of public diplomacy and public relations at
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) believes the
legislation represents an ill-conceived attempt of a
superpower to meddle in Ethiopia's internal
