"Lifeless!" he said sipping his coffee. "I just do
not get it! Maybe I am too old for this. I could not
find something I can call music; maybe Ethiopian
music is gone with the wind!"
"You mean all?" I asked Mesfin Getaneh, a passionate
music lover whom I was having coffee with. "For me,
there are only a few pieces which I can listen to,"
replies Mesfin. For Mesfin, Tedi Afro (Theodros
Kassahun) and GiGi are the only icons of the modern
Ethiopian music with meaningful substance.
"Otherwise, I still listen to the old and
traditional music which I think are full of life."
