Once Again, Central Venue Hotel Reinstated to
Former Owners
The
Federal Supreme Court last week upheld the decision passed
by the Federal High Court nine months ago by reinstating the
three-storey premises housing King’s Hotel to the original
proprietors. After two years of court battle, the owners of
the former Central Venue Hotel settled to possess their
property.
Based on its recently launched Web-based service,
the Federal Supreme Court is to begin rendering
online authentication and registration services on
contractual agreements of immovable properties.
The Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE) is to
disburse long-term loans to regional states for
infrastructural expansion. Road projects in the
regions selected would be given priority within the
new scheme, a senior management staff at the Bank
told Fortune.
When
a crisis strikes, the poor are often the most vulnerable and
the least protected. However, the advent of pro-poor
insurance policies in developing countries may help to
change this, reports Veronica O’Connor, for the IFPRI. This

Though a crucial component of Ethiopia's development quest,
road construction must be scrutinised for its quality and
indirect effects. While foreign firms are often awarded
contracts based on bias rather than merit, their output is
sometimes just as sub-par as local firms'. The results of
poor oversight has been failing infrastructure that is not
contributing to the country's growth as it should, argues
Luelseged Ayalew (PhD).

politicians after being granted amnesty. Tamrat G. Giorgis, Fortune
Staff Writer, asked Temesgen Zewde, Parliamentary whip of the
Coalition for Unity and Democracy Party (CUDP), and Ayele Chamiso,
deputy chairman of CUDP, how they viewed contributions of political
opposition shaping in the future.

VERBATIM
"This was my first time on an aircraft carrier . . . It was
a very enriching and thrilling experience."
Sahle-Work
Zewde, Ethiopian ambassador to the African Union (AU), told a
group of reporters gathered inside the United States (US)
Embassy in Addis Abeba about her visit to the Camp Lemonier on
August 5, 2007, off the coast of Djibouti. She and Cindy
Courville, the US Ambassador to the AU, together with other
ambassadors from Uganda and Romania saw air operations from a
"bird's eye" view and made a tour to see the action up close as
the air traffic controllers launched and recovered aircraft on
the flight dock. Sahle-Work said she is impressed by the
capability of the American military might.
