D E B A T E 2 0 1 0, DOES IT MATTER?

With exactly two weeks left till Election Day, political parties have tightened their belts and are campaigning with full force. And, as one form of campaign, the debates among political parties were expected to leave their mark on the choice of the electorate. However, the lack of interest in the debates from the electorate, claiming that it lacks flavour, has been fervently insinuated. None of the televised debates have covered the issue of the economy directly. The four parties interviewed were Medrek, represented by Temesgen Zewdie; the All Ethiopia Unity Party (AEUP), represented by Hailu Shawel; the Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP), represented by Mushe Semu; and the Coalition for Unity and Democracy (CUD), represented by Ayele Chamiso.
