Seeing Green
Economic Potential of
Ecotourism in Lush Lepis |
|
|
 |
|
Imagine a place with a lush green forest, full of
life, a rich multilayered under storey teaming with
birdlife, many of them endemic. Imagine a cool oasis
full of secluded nooks and crannies interlinked by
trekking trails. Imagine an 80 meter waterfall
tucked away in the grotto of a cliff, towering above
and cascading down into a pool below, with birds
flitting back and forth to cleanse their feathers in
the cool mist. Read More

Minallesh Terra: Leftovers of World’s
Largest Open-air Market |
 |
|
Whether or not Merkato still has any claim to being
the largest open-air market in Africa is debatable.

Ascending to Zuqualla’s Zestful Zone |
 |

Bishoftu (Debre Zeit) is known as a nice relaxing
day trip from Addis Abeba, but those who want to do

there is no cloud cover), they will have time for a
soak in one of Bishoftu’s lakes or swimming pools
back in town to get rid of all the sweat and dust
from the climb.

Addis Abeba’s Little Known St. Raguel Rock
Hewn Church |
|
|
|
The medieval Kedus (Holy or St.) Raguel and Kedus
Elias Rock Hewn Bete Christian (Christian House or
Church) remains under the radar in Addis Abeba, so
much so that three front desk employees at the
National Tour Operation office just off Meskel
Square did not know about it, and half a dozen
employees at the headquarters of the Tourism and
Culture Commission debated about its existence for
10 minutes before concluding that the only rock hewn
church in Addis Abeba was the mostly collapsed Washa
Mikael Bete Christian. |
