WHAT A NOSE-DIVE !

Toyota automobile plunged into a ravine on the night of May 23, 2009, at around 7:30pm, not far from the CMC residential complex, in front of  Yetebaberut Gas station. The driver lost control while turning,  according to eye witnesses in the area. The vehicle was left at the accident scene for   a few days for insurance officials to inspect the extent of the damage. It was difficult to read its plate number because front of the car was buried into the  ground, and the back of the car was much higher than an average person’s height. There was no loss of life or injury, there were two people inside the vehicle.

“The [passengers] went out the windows on each side,” eye witnesses told Fortune.

Over 300 people died in traffic accidents last year. Over 82pc of traffic fatalities were pedestrians, according to data from the city’s traffic department. Over the past decade, close to 200 million Br worth of damage was registered in the city due to traffic accidents.
