Modjo Collects
over 18.4m Br Revenue |
|
The Modjo Town
Administration Information Office announced that the administration
has collected over 18.4 million Br revenue from various income
titles over the past nine months. Office head Almaz Abebe said that
trade, investment, tax and non-tax revenue titles were sources from
which the revenue was collected. The revenue collected in the town
this year has show a significant increase, the head said, and
attributed the rise to the introduction of Business Process
Re-engineering (BPR) in 10 offices of the administration. The
administration has also planned to collect 27 million Br revenue by
the end of the current fiscal year.

Revenue Authority Nets over 271m Br |
|
The Dire Dawa
branch office of the Ethiopian Customs and Revenue Authority said it
has collected over 271 million Br revenue over the past nine months.
Office's General Manager Getahun Tuji said that the office collected
the revenue from tax and non-tax income titles. He said the revenue
collected in the reported period exceeds that of same time last year
by 34pc, attributing the rise to the ever improving public
motivation to pay tax properly. The office intercepted agricultural
products, clothes, electronic products, cosmetics, drugs and other
goods worth 45.6 million Br being smuggled to and out of the
country.

Tourism Generates 26.1m Br |
|
The Trade and
Industry Bureau of the SNNP Regional State said it has collected
21.1 million Br from tourists who visited various attractions in the
state. Bureau Tourism, Parks and Hotels Work Process Owner Almaze
Beyero said that the stated sum of revenue was obtained from 270,326
tourists who visited various attractions of the state over the past
nine months. She said that Nech Sar, Mago and Omo National parks and
Arba Minch Crocodiles Ranch were the attractions visited by
tourists, of which 63,888 were foreigners.

Office Collects over 20m Br Revenue |
|
Over 20 million Br revenue was secured from various income titles in
Benji Maji Zone of SNNP Regional State over the past nine months,
the Zonal Tax Administration Office said. Office head Atinachew
Wubishet said that the stated sum collected during the reported
period exceeded that of last year same period by 4.8 million Br. The
head said the office has targeted to collect 24 million Br this
budget year.

Fetches 100m Br Revenue |
|
Over 100
million Br has been collected in Jimma Zone of Oromia Regional State
from various titles over the last nine months, the Zonal Revenue
Office said. Office representative Abdeta Ayele said that the stated
sum surpassed that of the same period last year and the target by 13
million Br and 14.3 million Br, respectively. He said the revenue
that would be collected in the fiscal year would cover 14pc of the
expenses of the zone.

Farmers Obtain 100m Br from Animal Fattening |
|
Farmers engaged
in animal fattening in Telo and Odabulton woredas of West Hararge
Zone secured 100 million Br income during the first half of the
current Ethiopian fiscal year. Zonal Agriculture and Rural
Development Department Head Niway Bekele said that the farmers in
Telo woreda obtained 51 million Br from the sale of 7, 200 oxen.
Farmers engaged in the sector have also obtained over 49 million Br
income. The number of farmers that benefited from the sector reached
over 7,500 according to the head.

Secure over 107m Br from Livestock Sales, Animal Products |
|
Farmers in
south Wollo Zone of Amhara Regional State have obtained over 107
million Br revenue from animal and animal products, State
Agricultural and Rural Development Department said. Department
deputy head Wondaleh Habtamu said that the farmers secured the
income by supplying 347,206 sheep and goats, as well as animal
products to the market in 21 woredas of the zone in the past nine
months. Some 14,248 cows have been hybridized with disease resistant
varieties. Currently, over 1.3 million heads of cow oxen and over
2.5 million heads of sheep and goats are found in the zone.

Inst. Set to Loan 24 m Br |
|
The
Kembata-Tembaro Zone Branch office of the Omo Micro Finance
Institute announced plans to distribute 24 million Br in loans among
clients during the current fiscal year. Office representative
Matiwos Masebo said that the stated amount will be distributed to
over 5,000 people engaged in various income generating activities.
The beneficiaries are engaged in animal breeding and fattening,
woodwork and metalwork, urban agriculture, and other petty trades.
The office envisages collecting over 11 million Br in savings during
the reported period, he said. Over 16,000 clients have already saved
more than 8.3 million Br so far.

Exports Reel in over $75.5m |
|
The Tigray
Regional State's Agriculture and Rural Development Bureau announced
that over 75.5 million dollars has been secured from the export of
over half a million quintals of sesame this fiscal year. Bureau
Market Promotion Agency work process owner Kiros Te'kou said that
over 1.4 million quintals of sesame was harvested from over
231,450hct in Kafta Humers and other low land areas. Sesame
production this year exceeds that of the previous year by
174,000Qtls. The regional state has planned to collect over 113.9
million dollars through exporting 911,400Qtls of sesame during this
year.
